Description

Albany was the first established European settlement in Western Australia and is now one of the largest cities outside of Perth with a population of approximately 30,000. A thriving City, seaport and the administrative hub for the region. Albany has one of the most attractive coastline settings; endowed with an interesting history and an abundance of attractions and activities. It's about a 4.5 hour drive from Perth and less than an hour by air. It offers visitors cooler summers and mild winters.

Albany hosts a diverse range of attractions. Visitors will appreciate the pristine natural environment that surrounds the regional city. There are many attractions within nature such as whale watching, bushwalking and even facilities to aid hang- gliders (whatever your style). Several tours introduce visitors to the landscape both natural and urban and stories of Western Australia’s first settlement, rich maritime history.

Albany's Whale Season runs from June to October.
In 2007 visitors to Albany and the locals were awed by great numbers of Southern Right and Humpback Whales in and around Albany's sheltered coves. At Middleton Beach, locals slept to the sound of a deep exhalation as a mother and calf tuck in close to shore.
