Description

Mount Meharry, at 1253 metres, is the highest mountain in Western Australia. It is located within the southeastern part of Karijini National Park of the Pilbara region, approximately 135 kilometres from Wittenoom, and 160 kilometres from Tom Price. Access to the mountain is through Juna Downs Station, so it's important to notify the station owners prior to entry.

Getting To The Top

The area around Mt Meharry is rugged and remote. This is extreme 4WD territory - drivers should be experienced and well equipped. Consult the local ranger before making any attempt to climb to the summit.

The days can be very hot and the nights extremely cold all year round. If you are planning to camp, hike and climb in the area, make sure you bring all the right gear including a range of clothes and lots of layers!!

Handy Hint

Unless you're desperate to climb the highest peaks in every state, Western Australia's second highest peak - Mount Bruce - is also located within Karijini National Park and reaches a height only 18 metres short of Mt Meharry.
