Description
Yeppoon is a coastal resort town situated north east of Rockhampton. Located on Keppel Bay it is the gateway to Great Keppel Island. Yeppoon offers scenic coastline and pleasant beaches. The Keppel Group is the largest marina park in northern Australia with 18 beautiful islands within only 10 nautical miles between Yeppoon and Emu Park. The Rosslyn Bay boat harbour caters for professional and privately owned vessels.
North of the town is the Byfield State Forest and National Park with beautiful rainforests. The State Forest consists largely of pine plantations. The National Park is largely a coastal and sand dune based geographical area. It is popular with 4WD enthusiasts.
You will find a great view over the Capricorn Coast from the top of Mount Jim Crown which can be climbed from the main road on half way back to Rockhampton. It is quite steep and loose rock make good shoe ware and good fitness required.
